Chipchase Castle is one of the best examples of Jacobean architecture
in the borders. The 14thC pele tower is very well preserved and
gives insight into living conditions during the turbulent times
of the border raids. The gardens are filled with interest, a walled
vegetable garden, wild garden with lake and ornamental wild fowl,
fine mature trees, spring bulbs, rhododendrons, roses, shrubs
and herbaceous borders. Adjoining nursery garden with plants for
sale.
