Romantic ruins of extensive 14thC castle in dramatic coastal situation on 100ft cliffs. Built by Thomas, Earl of Lancaster. Remains include gatehouse and curtain wall.


Directions: Take the B1339; 8 miles north east of Alnwick; on footpaths from Craster or Embleton.
Public Transport: Bus 501,502, Newcastle upon Tyne to Berwick-upon-Tweed, via Embleton, then a short walk.
Opening Times: Open 1 Apr-30 Sep, daily, 1000-1800; 1-31 Oct, daily, 1000-1700; 1 Nov-31 Mar, Wed-Sun, 1000-1600. Closed 24-26 Dec, 1 Jan.
Prices: Adult: £1.80, Adult (Group): £1.80
