Norham Walk

Norham is situated about 8 miles South-West of Bewick along the the A698 on the B6470. Park in the centre of Norham near the church and walk down the track to the river from the village green.

Once you get to the river, turn left along a broad well defined track. The England/Scotland border runs through the centre of the river here, so the bank on the side side is in Scotland. When the track ends keep going along a rough path.

Follow the river bank until you get to the road bridge. You can either climb the steps and cross the road, or follow the path under the bridge, and the turn left over a stile to rejoin the track.

The path runs along the right hand side of a field next to the river. Cross the fence using a stile near the end of the field. Continue to a gate onto the road. Turn left and walk down the road to Norham. If you were to turn left at this point there is another footpath along beside the river leading to Twizel bridge and beyond.
