The tower, built by Sir Robert Harbottle in 1392, is one of the few surviving pele towers. The tunnel-vaulted rooms remain unaltered and 2 are furnished in contemporary style.

Directions: Take the A1; 7 miles north of Alnwick; follow historic property signs for 1 mile.
